We are all familiar with the term “self-awareness”. This is a bit of self-help term that means awareness that is based on your own reasoning and personal judgment. This is what makes us conscious, but what we don’t realize is that we are constantly in the presence of our self-awareness.
As you might guess, I am a medical dosimetrist. And not only do I do a lot of medical work, I also do a lot of talking and writing about it.
The term self-awareness is a bit of a misnomer. Self-awareness can be thought of as the ability to think about something without the need for external evidence (though obviously you have to have some evidence). However, self-awareness really has to do with the ability to assess the validity of information and the ability to judge it for yourself. For example, being aware of your own body is the ability to be aware that you are in control of your own body.
For me, being aware of my body’s position when I wake up means I am aware of my own position (and that is not a bad thing). But most of the time being aware of my own body doesn’t mean I am aware of it. Having met people who have a very different experience of being aware of their own body, I would say this is usually because they don’t have a sense of self-awareness.
The thing is, as you mentioned earlier, the most important thing about being aware of your own body is to make sure that you have a sense of self-awareness. In this case you may not be aware of your own body, but you may not be aware of your own.
For instance, it makes sense if you go to a beach, or a park, and you’re not aware of your own body. If you do go out, you’re not aware of your body. But the beach is the most obvious place to go out.
The beach is the most obvious place to go out. Thats why the beach is the first place we check. We dont go to the park and we dont check out of the hospital. If we go to a park we dont check out of the hospital. If we go to a beach, we dont check out of the hospital. We check our body, it has a sense of self.
I know this could be kind of a weird thing to say, but if you look at the body at a beach you don’t see what’s above your head. If you go to a beach you dont see what’s above your head. You’re basically seeing yourself.
When I was a kid I used to go to the beach often. It was a nice place for children to play. I would sit on the sand and enjoy the water. It was so relaxing. Now, I think it’s because I’ve become hyperaware of how I look and what I look like. I think that I look like I’m always hungry and I’m always getting sick and I always feel like I’m on a diet. Now, I don’t look like that anymore.
This is a bit of a rant. We got to the point where we thought the story about the three-headed man was pretty interesting and I think we will find out soon enough. But we are still in a very similar position on some of the other threads.
